Students

The Ascension is a ministry specifically designed for middle and high school students at PTC3. Our student ministry consists of two primary environments on a weekly basis, on every Sunday Morning and Wednesday Night.

Sunday Morning

The First Sunday of every month we cook a homemade breakfast (free) for all students to partake of. It usually consists of pancakes, sausage, and BACON!

2nd, 3rd, 4th, & 5th Sunday mornings we have 2 Sunday School classes that coincide with our Worship Service times: 9:30 & 11:00.

Each class consists of 3 elements: Breakfast (free), games and Bible study. Students are welcome to get here early and stay late to hang out with friends or ask questions with their teachers. Our goal on Sunday morning is to create an environment where students find it easy to make new friends and offer an intentional study that is straight from Scripture. We desire our students to grow in their Biblical knowledge, this includes the ability to carry on conversations with their peers about what Scripture says, as well as knowing the stories that make up the narrative of the People of God. Our Sunday School teachers are great story tellers; they truly enjoy making the scriptures come to life. They are also passionate about students and their spiritual growth and are committed to teaching them the truths that are found in the Word of God.

Wednesday Night

Our Wednesday Night gathering is a Worship Service designed specifically with Middle/High School Students in mind. It begins @ 6:30pm and ends around 8:00pm.

Our service is made up of 3 components:

Worship, Teaching and Community Groups (C-Groups).

We begin by moving into their C-Groups for a short check-in. Our small groups are broken down by grade and gender. We currently have 4 C-Groups, all led by adults who are passionate about students and their discipleship. This initial C-Group time primarily allows any new students to be introduced to a few students that are the same age…it takes a large and sometimes intimidating group and makes it smaller.

Our initial C-Group time is followed by our time of worship. There is a live band every week. During this time we do more than just sing, we have a communion station that is open to our students to partake in at any point during the worship. In addition to the communion station, we also have a prayer board where students can write their prayer requests. A really great aspect of our prayer ministry is that each night after the service a group of student leaders receive pictures of each of the requests and pray for them over that following week.

Following our worship time Chris brings a message from Scripture. This is not a time of comedic relief with a small bit of Scripture sprinkled in towards the end; Chris is extremely passionate about relating the Scriptures to the lives of our students. Every week our students are walked through a passage of Scripture in a way that allows them to see its relevance in their lives. It is our goal that as they head out the door that evening they are already thinking about how what they just heard affects their own lives.

After the message we move back into C-Groups for an extended period of time. This is where the students will digest and discuss the message. They will be led in discussions that squeeze every ounce of relevancy out of what they just heard. It is here that the students can ask specific questions about how they can apply the message and share insights with others about what the Lord is doing in their lives. After reviewing the message the students break down into smaller C-Groups which provides for them an environment in which they can ask or answer more personal questions.

TheAscension is a Student Ministry that is very focused on building relationships. We believe that the building of relationships with every student that walks through our doors will provide us with opportunities to introduce them to Jesus or help them grow as a disciple of Christ.

If you have any questions, please feel free to shoot Chris an email.
